Vision and Values
Our School Vision
The Vision of our school is:
The Spirit's presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all.
1 Corinthians Chapter 12 verse 7
Our long-established vision, reviewed recently by staff and governors is anchored from the word of God (Ephesians 3;19 and John 10:10). It was felt with new SLT, AGC Chair and life changes since covid that this needed reviewing to reflect the school it is today and the community we serve daily.
Welford, Sibbertoft, and Sulby Endowed School provides a loving, caring, deeply Christian community where each child, their family and the wider community is valued, nurtured, and given the opportunity to flourish within the school community and the local community. We are a loving, inclusive family, committed to quality in all areas of school life. Guided by our Christian Faith we support our pupils and school community to develop the individual gifts they have been given by God. We want our pupils to embrace their individuality, imagine a positive future for themselves, trusting that they can achieve their dreams in life using the gifts they have been given, while using those gifts to contribute to the community we are part of as a school and village.
All are welcome, nurtured and loved.
1 Corinthians Chapter 12 verse 7 “The Spirit’s presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all.”
The Message Bible explains it saying - God’s various gifts are handed out everywhere; but they all originate in God’s Spirit. God’s various ministries are carried out everywhere; but they all originate in God’s Spirit. God’s various expressions of power are in action everywhere; but God himself is behind it all. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people! The variety is wonderful: wise counsel, clear understanding, simple trust, healing the sick, miraculous acts, proclamation, distinguishing between spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues. All these gifts have a common origin but are handed out one by one by the one Spirit of God, who decides who gets what, and when.
In identifying a true and realistic vision for the school, we were determined that the vision would be rooted in an understanding of the needs of our school community and in what the Christian faith teaches about those needs.
Our new vision, generated and reviewed regularly by staff and governors is anchored in the word of God (1 Corinthians Chapter 12 verse 7), which is used to encourage individuals to be open to their own individual gifts, which are God given. We truly believe that everyone within our community has something to add which will enrich us as a school community and as a wider community and, with God’s guidance, we recognise and nurture talents to make us stronger together. At Welford, Sibbertoft and Sulby Endowed School we want all our pupils to imagine a positive future for themselves trusting that they can achieve their dreams in life using their God given gifts. Guided by our Christian faith we will support our pupils and school community to expand their horizons with Love, Community and Being me.
Post covid three things struck us as a school community. Firstly, we have a school community of individuals who lack self-belief and confidence in who they are and what they have to offer. Secondly, due to covid, the school is having to work hard at re-building relationships with parents and re-establishing its place at the heart of the local community. Thirdly that we need to look to the future and the world we are a part of accepting difference in all its forms and embracing it. All these things are of huge importance to us as educators in a Church school.
Our vision allows us to acknowledge that we are all God's children, God knows each of us by name and loves us, and gives us each gifts to use in his kingdom. At Welford, Sibbertoft and Sulby School, we know and value all of our children and their families as individuals, each with gifts to share within the community.
Therefore, for us as a school to be at the heart of the community, we know that we not only have to teach children that they are wonderful individuals and about their gifts in school but we need to equip them with the confidence to take their gifts out into the community. Our vision focuses first on teaching children that we all have God given gifts, and then helping them embrace and use those gifts for the good of all.
As a school we want to encourage our children to aim even higher and to reach for their dreams using their God given gifts. The school, following on from its original foundation of providing education for all, wants to broaden their experiences beyond Welford, Sibbertoft and Sulby and to inspire children to create a better world through our values. Developing pupil resilience and celebrating success in all forms and the promotion of wellbeing for all is key in embracing individuality and God given gifts. Therefore, for us as a school to make a real difference, we know that we not only have to teach children about their gifts in school but need to encourage them to take their gifts out into the community supported by our school values.
Our Values
Our vision is lived out through the Christian understanding of our three core values of Love, Community and Being Me, all biblically based, which we believe set us apart from a non-faith school. The bible verse has been carefully considered by children, staff, and governors to ensure that the cores values are the living word of God. The bible verse reminds us daily that we are individuals each wonderfully made by our maker, with gifts that make us unique but that allow us to come together to make something wonderful in the world. Supported by our core values, the verse enables us to build ONE community where children from all faiths and none, all socio-economic groups and all cultures are encouraged to be the best they possibly can, directly reflecting the trusts vision, ‘For every child, within our Trust, to experience an excellent education and to realise their God-given potential to flourish’
